Dos and Don’ts of Buying a Car as a Holiday Gift

Looking for a great gift for a loved one? Have you considered purchasing them a car? While it may seem like an odd choice on the surface, there is some validity to purchase a car for a family member (or in some cases a close friend) for a holiday gift. We have some helpful dos and don’ts to consider.

Do make sure you are buying the right vehicle for their needs. Sure, you may want to purchase a sleek sports car, but is that really what your significant other needs? That person may be in the market for a sedan or an SUV. Make sure you really think about what kind of car the person needs in their day to day life to make sure you aren’t missing the mark and ending up with disappointment.

Don’t forget about the logistics. Make sure you have a financing plan, as well as a plan for whose name the car will be under. If you’re looking for a shared title, your loved one may need to come in and sign paperwork too. Which would ruin the surprise.

Do buy your car in the proper time frame. Give yourself some breathing room between the date of purchase and the day you want to give the gift, just in case there are issues.

Don’t forget to let us know it’s a gift. That was we don’t call or send paperwork to your house that will give away the surprise. If we know it’s a gift, we can also help work with you with the financing and titling.

Do make sure you purchase a bow! It is a gift after all!
